More Than Just A Meal
Meals on Wheels strives to improve the health and support the independence and dignity of our homebound neighbors. We currently have an active volunteer force of over 400 and serve meals to approximately 275 clients in the city of Charlottesville and the county of Albemarle.
Our meals, prepared under the supervision of a registered dietitian, meet each client's dietary needs. Medically appropriate diets are available, including diabetic, renal, sodium-restricted, heart-healthy, vegetarian, and soft or pureed food.
Through our efforts, Meals on Wheels nourishes the body and nurtures the spirit, providing daily social contact and a vital safety net for individuals who may otherwise be isolated or at risk. By supporting our homebound neighbors, we contribute to earlier discharges from medical facilities, reduce the need for institutional care, and enable elderly and disabled individuals to maintain their independence and dignity in the comfort of their own homes. With each delivery, we uphold our commitment to fostering a healthier, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
