Meals on Wheels may be known for its food, but this holiday season, they’re collecting all kinds of gifts. The organization is filling joy bags with donations and delivering them to clients at the end of the year.

 

The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is providing pet food to people who may have limited access to transportation through a new partnership. Meals on Wheels delivers food to families in need. This new partnership will allow families to also receive food for their pets.

September 24th is Pet Hunger Awareness Day, and to recognize it, the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA has partnered up with Meals on Wheels.

 

Meals on Wheels is featured in The Scout Guide for its 3rd Annual Music for Meals fundraiser at Three Notch’d Brewing Co.

 

The Charlottesville Meals on Wheels has teamed up with Sir Speedy of Central VA, a locally-owned promotional products business, for the Swag for Wags and Merch for Meows program.

 

Hailey Peterson has accepted the position of executive director of Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle, starting Monday. Peterson, who has been the organization's interim executive director since September, will be responsible for leading the organization forward, developing a vision for its future, and continuing its strong record of impact in the area.


Despite a rainy start Saturday, March 23, thousands of runners still laced up for the Charlottesville Ten Miler. Race director Karen Murray said “Of this year’s beneficiaries, the primary ones are Meals on Wheels and JABA. It is awesome to bring the community together in this way.”

This year’s race benefits the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, Meals on Wheels, Bennett’s Village, Girls on the Run, the Building Goodness Foundation, the Sexual Assault Resource Agency, and Madison House.

 

29News’ own Kasey Hott is giving a helping hand at Meals on Wheels Charlottesville/Albemarle. Hott joined volunteers early Tuesday, March 20, to help pack meals to be delivered around the area. The organization says it has around 35 routes, serving 250 meals a day.
